Marq Kearey Exhibition

January 2026

Marq Kearey is a visual artist specialising in gouache collages. Throughout his career, he has experimented with various materials, yet gouache has become central to his practice due to the unique visual language he has cultivated through it. In his artistic process, initial gouache paintings on paper—often referencing posters—are cut or torn to create layered collages on boards, canvases, or paper.  His compositions explore the tension between abstraction and semi-landscape forms, producing spaces that feel both contemplative and dynamic. Kearey creates emotionally resonant gouache collages charged with psychological and atmospheric depth. His current practice examines the interplay of memory, place, and perception, inviting viewers into shifting psychological terrains that blur landscape, abstraction, and emotional recall.

Marq Kearey graduated from Winchester School of Art in 1993. Some of his significant exhibitions have been at Gasworks Gallery, The Curve at the Barbican Centre, and The Oni Gallery in Boston, Massachusetts. In recent years, he has exhibited through Sandra Higgins Art in Bath and London. Over time, his artworks have also been shown at Bell House in Dulwich, Gallery 46 in Shoreditch, ASC Gallery and Terrace Gallery in London, and M Gallery in New Jersey. In 2024, he was involved in the Bow Arts Residency, with a final exhibition in Soho, London. In 2025, he took part in ‘Whisper Down the Lane’, a posters street art exhibition in Poland, as part of the Sala752 artist residency and art project. Recently, Marq’s collages have also been displayed at the Southwark Art Galleries.  His artworks are held in collections in the UK, Poland, and the United States.
